Monique Ceccato, also known as Little Miss MonBon is everything but average. Why? Well, her wardrobe really encourages add colour to your life and that it’s OK to wear all colours of the rainbow. Always on the hunt for things to do and places to go to, she’s definitely not boring. Looking for something to do or a new place to hang out? Don’t worry – Monique knows exactly where to go to or what to see.

Not your Average Girl

Besides her fun lifestyle blog posts, her fashion blog posts are unique just like her taste in fashion. Combining modern day trends with her classic and romantic style makes her outfits effortless. If you check out her blog, the first thing that is most noticeable about her is that she loves colour (and a lot of it)! This can be found in her pictures, but also in her bubbly personality and writing style.

However, Monique is not all what meets the eye. Therefore, we asked her some personal questions just to get to know her better!

What motivated you to start your blog?

A job interview! I went for a PR role in a small business and they were asking me if I knew about blogs. I said no (keep in mind, this was 7 years ago!). The rest of the interview didn’t go as well as I thought, but I was proactive and thought to myself ‘if I want to work in this industry, I have to know these things’ and got to teaching myself all about them.

Can you talk us through what you were doing before you became a blogger and how you made the transition?

I was studying marketing and management at university when I first started blogging, but it wasn’t until I was a few years out of uni that I made blogging my career path. I just couldn’t find a job that I was happy working in, so I worked part time running the social media for a local company while trying to build what I did with the blog. It was tough at first because I gave up income to pursue what I wanted to do, but you have to take risks to achieve!

How do you balance being a successful blogger with other aspects of your life?

It took me a while to find a good balance between work and leisure. Sometimes the lines get blurred when you are a blogger, and if you don’t take care to actually take time out, you can burn out. For a long while I was going to every event that I got invited along to, and I didn’t realise that it was actually detrimental to my mental well being. Events may appear fun, but when you are using them as your social outings and not spending your time doing what you want to do, it really takes its toll. It is still work after all!

Nowadays I am very conscious about leaving at least 1/2 of my nights free each week just so that I can spend time with my friends outside of the blogging and event circle, and to just be with my partner. I also try to get away back down to my home town every now and then so I get the chance to switch off for a while!

Favourite Eyewear trend/brand? And Favourite pair of sunglasses/eyeglasses?

I have always loved really statement frames – anything with embellishments, pretty colours and fun details always wins me over. I have actually been lusting over these Miu Miu  frames for AGES!

Who is your street style icon?

I actually really love following Holly of Petite Flower Presents, and Alina and Diana from The Fab Muses. I also die over Poppy Lissiman’s style.

Greatest achievement outside of blogging?

Dancing to ‘I Go To Rio’ on live TV with Todd McKenny and a whole bunch of Australian stars.

Weirdest or most unexpected talent or skill?

I can reach my hands 30+ cm further than my toes (my pike position is phenomenal).

What advice would you give your younger self, that you wished you’d gotten?

You might not be like everyone else, but you definitely want to be like that!

Where do you want to go next?

I would really love to do some more freelance writing, get my hands deeper into the blogging world, and maybe even start my own fashion line!

Who knew all of this about Monique? She’s not just a blogger, but actually came from an environment in which blogging was not really a thing. It inspires us all to do much more than whatever lands on our paths and that it’s OK to do something that might be a little bit more risky. As Monique said; taking risks might make you a happier person in the end. So, go out there and take risks and you might stumble upon your dream job!
