Maison Valentino Strikes Again: New Designer Eyewear Brand

Newsflash: Valentino fashion house has partnered up with Luxottica Group in January 2017 (officially) to launch a collection of Valentino eyewear which will embody timeless elegance, taking inspiration from ready-to-wear collections and accessories, creating a perfect balance between traditional and modern aesthetics in full respect to the iconic values of Maison Valentino.

Maison Valentino is all the talk

Earlier this June, Valentino’s Resort collection has dominated the runaway in New York – showing true glamleisure – track suits with mink coats going against the haute couture traditions. For Piccoli, his entire point being creating a line between notions of the sacred and the rituals in the church and the practice of haute couture. As a result, hammered metal bags with enamel mosaic details were created in the shapes of animal heads which meant to symbolize the seven deadly sins.

These unique thought process of designing has also been incorporated into the designs of the eyewear of Maison Valentino. The most trending model? The futuristic wayfarer (see picture below). So what’s so futuristic about it? Let me please start off with the fact that these sunnies have clear frames – which are, by the way, back in the fashion game boys and girls. Yes, they are.

Furthermore, these glasses have Smoke Grey mirror lenses – just to combine it with old school clear frames make them really funky. But, there is more – these Valentino sunglasses come in three other color ways: Blue, Brown and Green mirrors lenses – each of them having clear frames of course.


The fashion forward Maison Valentino changes the eyewear game

As for glasses, spectacles are less about seeing than being seen nowadays. Given this, that’s why people are using the term ‘optical wardrobe’ to describe their spectacle collections. As like sunglasses – spectacles are all about the academics: the nerdier the look, the better. In addition, Topshop respots have shown that many of its customers are buying clear glasses ‘as a direct response to the autumn/winter 2016 catwalks. So – Maison Valentino came with a direct response of carrying on the trend and added some color to spice things up. So who’s responsible for this trend? Let’s just blame the catwalks being partially responsible for this, making early Elton John styles an important part of the new aristo-geek look.

Firstly, let me introduce the Valentino VA3006 – a beautiful pair of square framed sunglasses with Top Poudre Beige on Crystle frames. Besides the unique and carefully crafted frames, the lenses are slightly oversized which definitely adds in some Elton John vibes – right? Lenses are customizable. Going for a more subtle look but still want to follow the trend? Luckily, Maison Valentino thought of you too: Valentino VA 3005 at first sight looks like the VA3006, but has a different bridge (the part between both glasses that rests on your nose). In addition, these VA 3005 have a slightly more dramatic cat eye frame and less square lenses. In addition, these shades are also available in the same color scheme as the VA3006’s: Black, Havana, Blue, Beige and Red.
